Schools Insurance Authority
Schools Insurance Authority (SIA) offers a solution to rising insurance costs for school districts in California through pools for self-insurance, risk management and loss control. SIA needed a system that would allow them to efficiently administer claims and effectively capture information in order to understand what was driving claims costs. iVOS and RiskConsole give them both claims administration and data capture as well as the advantage of a full risk management information system.
Utilizing Claims Administration and Data Capture Systems to Bring Costs Under Control
Since its formation in 1974, SIA has helped its members save premium dollars and stabilize coverage costs. SIA continues its mission by partnering with members to prevent workplace injuries and property losses, as well as to maintain safe school environments for students and employees. We spoke with Paul McKay, director of finance and operations, and Rick Jenkins, IT supervisor, regarding SIA’s use of iVOS to reengineer its claims process and the organization’s recent decision to also implement RiskConsole for a comprehensive, integrated solution.
“We view iVOS and RiskConsole as true complements,” said Paul McKay. “What iVOS does best is claims administration and data capture. RiskConsole gives us the added advantage of a full risk management information system (RMIS) with powerful capabilities to perform data integration, analysis and reporting.”
“These claims administration and analytic tools working in a complementary manner help to identify significant cost drivers within our current system. By using these tools constructively, we can enhance service to our members and provide much needed support to our stakeholders and California state legislators,” said McKay.
