Disaster recovery
Client data is replicated hourly to a third party disaster recovery site. Minimal time is then required to restore that data to the production database. Our goal is 100% uptime and to have RiskConsole always available for use. In the unlikely event of a building disaster (such as fire or an act of nature) that renders the data centre facilities unusable, the following steps will be taken:
Hardware replacement:
We will utilise current agreements with hardware vendors to provide replacement hardware to the disaster recovery facility.
Data recovery:
Client data is replicated hourly to a disaster recovery site. Minimal time is then required to restore that data to the production database. The disaster recovery site is located in Houston, USA - many miles away from the primary data centre. RiskConsole data is backed up daily onto reliable storage media, which is stored off-site at a secured storage facility. We have on-demand access to these tapes with a 90-minute response time for a requested delivery.
Production system restoration:
The data centre operations staff will relocate to the disaster recovery site immediately to bring production systems back online. The disaster recovery site is geographically separated from the primary data centre to safeguard against regional disaster.
The disaster recovery vendor is also an Internet connectivity vendor, so rapid reconnection is assured.
